Devorah in colored vestWow! What IS normal? I just had such an amazing insight today when speaking with one of my coaching clients. She told me about a childhood tailbone injury for which she was told nothing could be done. She then said, “I was in pain all the time and always tired and had very little energy.” Here is what blew me away. She said,” I thought that was normal”. Many years later it got so bad she finally found a chiropractor who helped her heal. When I heard her story I thought what a powerful message. How many of us think our pain is “normal” and so we don’t seek any help.Whether it’s physical pain or emotional or financial, so often we give up and accept our situation as if it is normal. Is being happy, healthy, wealthy and pain free normal? Or are struggle, fear, pain and worry normal?

This is what I call “What story are you telling yourself?” What story are you telling yourself about your situation? Are you telling yourself that your pain and suffering and struggle are normal and that’s just the way things are?

This really got me thinking and that is the beginning of change. Seeing something in a new way is the beginning of making a change. That is why the world of coaching is so amazing to me. We help each other see beyond our old stories and support one another to create and live our new vibrant, abundant and joyous new normal!

I mean I have never actually thought of myself as normal. I have always been a bit eccentric and creative and out of the box. But I have had the experience of thinking that some situation was hard and just called it normal and gave up on change. Well we don’t have to do that. There are many paths out of that place of being stuck, for that is what it really is. My path is the path of story. It is a powerful path of transformation and very healing, inspiring and influential.

Lately I have been a bit overwhelmed at the depth and beauty of the images and stories people have found and shared with me. The guided process I have created and call S.T.A.T.E takes you inside to find information in the form of stories and images from the subconscious. Then together we interpret this deep, raw material and it becomes usable in a wide range of forms. Some of my clients are making videos and some are in sales and some are writers and healers. They all find stories that are powerful and can be used in their work.

These stories can’t be found by thinking harder. I invite you to close your eyes and take a journey inside to find your own powerful images and stories and to get started using the power of story in all your work in the world.
